La rebelión de los vagabundos es la extraordinaria obra con la que Antonio López Alonso ha resultado ganador del V Premio Nacional de Novela Ciudad Ducal de Loeches.La idea central de esta novela surge por una noticia aparecida en los periódicos: un indigente es quemado mientras dormía en una cabina telefónica. Esta muestra de salvajismo de la vida cotidiana lleva a López Alonso a crear su trama más dura. Los protagonistas son un muchacho que padece esquizofrenia y su padre, que nos muestra poco a poco lo terrible de esta enfermedad, la destrucción de la personalidad del muchacho, víctima de una caída a los más bajo de la sociedad. Cuando el padre muera, en un doloroso proceso en el que más que la propia muerte duele la pérdida del hijo, seguirá siendo protagonista junto a su hijo gracias a su diario, el mismo que siempre acompaña al muchacho enfermo en sus derroteros cuando huye de Madrid a un pueblo de Asturias buscándose a sí mismo y cuando vuelve a Madrid, ciudad que López Alonso dibuja con maestría contraponiendo la grandeza del entorno con los personajes que se pudren en la ignominia física y moral. La tensión se desencadena cuando alguien comienza a asesinar mendigos, entonces en la mente torturada de nuestro protagonista resucitará el adolescente combativo que fue y hará la rebelión más extraña de la que tenga memoria los tiempos, la rebelión de los vagabundos.
ANTONIO LÓPEZ ALONSO (Trefacio,1954) Catedrático de Traumatología y Ortopedia de la Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad de Alcalá de Henares, de la que ha sido decano. Su último éxito ha sido la novela El fotógrafo y la muerte (Suma de Letras). Es autor de obras como La angustia de Federico García Lorca (Edaf), A Miguel Hernández lo mataron lentamente (Ediciones Irreverentes), los estudios Santa Teresa de Jesús, enferma o santa y Juan Negrín, del aula a las trincheras (Universidad de Alcalá de Henares) y de la novela Tierra de sombras y de luna, (Ed. Irreverentes) Mención Especial del primer Premio Nacional de Novela Ducado de Loeches. Sus poemarios Interiores y Reflejos de un árbol caído han sido prologados por Claudio Rodríguez.

Antonio, si a un tipo que vive la vida (intenta) desde una óptica humanista, en Madrid de toda la vida, con hijos, con nieta, y tu libro le hace preguntarse cosas de si mismo con respecto a la sociedad es porque as llegado donde querías.
Tu exposición social llena de vergüenzas la firmaríamos muchos, escribirlo, ya es otra cosa.
Queda restringido solo para gente que además de poder quiera y por supuesto escriba con el alma a disposición de los lectores.
